We’re Havin’ a BABY!

I Miss Belts.

So, I was just updating my facebook status, and thought I’d record it here too for posterity. I miss wearing a belt and having a waist. I just do. I can’t explain it. I even found a pretty picture (no, I don’t wear this style of belt, but for illustrative purposes and a lack of google searching skills, this is all I got).

Yup. I am SO determined to lose all my baby weight in a timely & healthy manner, I’m already psyching myself up for it. I know it will be hard, but I seem to have the stubborn persevering gene down pat.

The day I get to wear a belt again will be a party in the Ricci household, I tell ya. PAR-TAY! You all are invited. BYOB (bring your own belt).

Welcome to the Party, Stretch Marks!

I was wondering if you’d show up. It’s not like you received an invitation or anything, but I had a sneaking suspicion that you’d be crashing the party at some point anyway. I didn’t even know you were here for a while, until I looked in the mirror after using the bathroom at work. There you were, just hanging out like you own the place. Well, if you wouldn’t mind, I would really appreciate you keeping quiet and not stealing the show. I want more belly pics before you turn gigantic and dark.

Thanks.

The Granny Pants Rebellion is Over

This is one for the history books kids.  The Granny Pants Rebellion is officially over.  A decisive victory has been won by the Granny Pants, and the Preggo Mama is defeated.

That’s right…

I caved…

I’m wearing my comfy maternity stretchy top panel thingie all the way over my belly instead of folded down around my belly button.  These babies are seriously touching my ribs.  Kind of an homage to Steve Erkel and Granny Panties everywhere.  Not all my pants have this type of stretchy panel thingie at the top – some are just an uncomfortable stretchy inch or two.  But these babies, along with a couple other things I now own, have enough material at the top to cover Nunavut (or my belly in a few short months…).

It’s a funny feeling, being in the thick of things… history being made before my very eyes.

Wow.

I’m Nesting…

By prettifying my blog.  I like this new look, and I think I’ll actually keep it. Except I might update the picture one of these days, since that one is from more than a month ago. (Yikes!).

It Happened…

I was at the hairdresser yesterday getting a trim.  I was sitting leaned back in those super-uncomfortable chairs that you sit in while they wash your hair…

“So how far along are you?” the hairdresser asks me.

*Oh my word, oh my word… I can’t believe it finally happened.  A total stranger that I’d never met before asked when I was due.  That means… I’m showing.  And not showing in the “slightly barely maybe showing sense”.  More in the “it’s obvious she’s pregnant, and I’m not risking embarassment asking when she’s due because it’s just so obvious” sense.  Yikes! I can’t believe this is actually happening!!!*

“I’m 3 and a half months now. Due in September”.

The Point of No Return – 14 weeks

Yeah yeah I know, 14 weeks ago was really more of the “point of no return” if you know what I mean… but I’m actually referring to my rapidly disappearing waistline.  I think I’m at the stage where I can’t really hide it anymore.  I’m not huge or anything yet, but I’m definitely showing.  So much so, in fact, that apparently no one can believe it’s not twins (it’s not – I’ve had 2 ultrasounds, and they are NOT synchronized swimmers).

I wake up every morning and before I even open my eyes I instinctively touch my belly to see if perhaps I’ve turned into a house overnight.  Just a gradual expanding so far, though.

I honestly am excited to be showing… but my preggo hormones made me feel fat last night after a day of like a dozen people saying how huge I am for 14 weeks.  Stupid hormones.  There’s no going back now I guess.  I’m just gonna get bigger until September.  May as well embrace it 🙂

The little one is now around 3-4 inches long by the way. Major growth spurt ahead.   Amazing!
