So, I was just updating my facebook status, and thought I’d record it here too for posterity. I miss wearing a belt and having a waist. I just do. I can’t explain it. I even found a pretty picture (no, I don’t wear this style of belt, but for illustrative purposes and a lack of google searching skills, this is all I got).
Yup. I am SO determined to lose all my baby weight in a timely & healthy manner, I’m already psyching myself up for it. I know it will be hard, but I seem to have the stubborn persevering gene down pat.
The day I get to wear a belt again will be a party in the Ricci household, I tell ya. PAR-TAY! You all are invited. BYOB (bring your own belt).
Filed under: YAY BABIES!, belly watch, doctor stuff, milestones, pregnancy symptoms
Well, I was officially 30 weeks pregnant on Canada Day. Yay! Less than 10 weeks left now until my due date… and since I am actually considered full-term at 38 weeks (the due date is at 40 weeks), there are only 8 weeks until I am full-term! Yikes!
I’ve been feeling more and more tired as the third trimester goes on. Swollen ankles, sore back, the usual pregnancy complaints. But overall I’m just really excited to meet my baby soon!
The baby has been moving and kicking SO much lately. Especially during the day when I am sitting still at my desk at work – I look down and see my stomach jumping and moving… it’s so great! I love it
Hmmm… what else to say. This is a boring post. But I felt obligated to write a 30 week update, since it’s kinda a milestone.
Oh yeah, I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow morning. I go every 2 weeks now.
OH! And I went camping! I’m gonna write a separate post about it…
So this is my 28 weeks pregnant belly… I feel like I really popped out in the beginning, but haven’t continued at that pace (thank goodness!).
A few stretch marks, but overall, life is good. I can’t wait to meet this miracle!
I was wondering if you’d show up. It’s not like you received an invitation or anything, but I had a sneaking suspicion that you’d be crashing the party at some point anyway. I didn’t even know you were here for a while, until I looked in the mirror after using the bathroom at work. There you were, just hanging out like you own the place. Well, if you wouldn’t mind, I would really appreciate you keeping quiet and not stealing the show. I want more belly pics before you turn gigantic and dark.
Thanks.

So apparently this is roughly what my stage of pregnancy looks like (25-26 weeks)…
(And just for the record I think it’s a little ridiculous… I was bigger than that at like 20 weeks, but if I hear “oh my goodness you’re huge” one more time… I swear… And while you’ve got the record out, add this too… “HOLY CRAP THERE’S A BABY IN THERE… I MEAN ME… OH MY WORD!)

And I’m sitting here, wondering… where the heck are all my internal organs?! I mean, this question has been on my mind the last little while. Ol’ Doc & dear internet keep telling me that the baby is growing bigger and bigger, my lovely friends and family can’t stop exclaiming how ginormously huge I look (wait ’til I’m 9 months… that’ll be a show…), and I just can’t help but think – if that baby is like totally taking up all the room in my ‘abdominal area’ then, well, what about like my intestines and stuff?
It’s a mystery.
In other baby news, last night dear ol’ hubby was out delighting himself with the company of his dad and the palate-pleasing delicacies of fine cuisine while I stayed home and slaved away like a chained prisoner (ok, his dad took him out for dinner at the pickle barrel while I stayed home studying for the class I willingly and excitedly decided to sign up for, but that’s beside the point… where was I?…)
Oh yes. So like the amazingly wonderful hubby that he is, he called me when they were done eating and offered to bring me home a treat – anything off the menu. He read off a couple options he thought I’d like, and in the home stretch it came down to the onion rings vs the chocolate fudge layer cake. Now, if you know me at ALL… you know I’d normally choose onion rings/fries/anything salty and greasy over chocolate and sweets ANY day of the week. But when baby spoke up and politely asked for the chocolate fudge layer cake, I did what any decent mother would do, and obliged.
Score one for my tastebuds, and one for my mad parenting skills. Cha-ching.
That’s how they count it – as soon as you hit a full 25 weeks, you’re then in your 26th week, and so on. It’s great – makes me feel like I’m that much closer to D-Day!
I just wanted to give a little update on how the bun is cooking. According to dear internet, “growing baby now measures around 14.02 inches (35.6cm) and weighs about 1.68 pounds (760g)”… “In the second half of your pregnancy you will be growing nearly 0.39inches (1cm) each week“… “Your baby now has some sort of sleeping pattern. You may find that at certain times of the day he/she is more active than other times. All his/her five senses will now be fully developed”.
I’m only a couple weeks away from my third trimester, and according to my dear encouraging internet, this is what I have to look forward to any second now… ” As your uterus, placenta and baby get bigger, so do you. Back pain, headaches, leg cramps and pressure in your pelvis may be becoming more frequent now”.
Yay for babies! Yay for getting closer and closer to D-Day so I can meet the little monkey who’s putting me through all this fun and frivolity!
By prettifying my blog. I like this new look, and I think I’ll actually keep it. Except I might update the picture one of these days, since that one is from more than a month ago. (Yikes!).
Forgot to mention a funny story from the babymoon…
When we were at dinner at the fancy restaurant, I was holding the menu in my lap (sorta over my belly – it was the big hard-cover style menu). The waitress asked us if what we’d like to drink. Chris asked what they had other than alcohol and pop. Now this being wine-country, it’s almost expected that you would get a glass of wine with dinner. Anyway, we decided on virgin raspberry daiqueries, and she gave us a few more minutes to decide on our entrees.
When she came back, I ordered and then moved the menu away and folded it to give to her. She saw my belly (looking quite round), and said “OH! You’re PREGNANT!” lol! It was so hilarious. It was like it all of a sudden became clear that I wasn’t strange for not ordering wine, I was just pregnant!
She asked how far along, said congrats, etc. and offered me the advice to swim alot to get through the hot days of summer during pregnancy.
Anyway, it amused me alot…
Yup. I’m 15 weeks today. Amazing! It’s really speeding up now (although I hear it’s back to super-slow for the last month or so). The 2nd trimester is pretty fun. Most of the articles and sites I’ve checked out say that the second trimester is way easier than the first and third because the exhaustion and morning sickness from the first trimester is over (hopefully!), and you aren’t so huge yet that you’re really uncomfortable. I’m loving the little belly I have now that’s obvious in most clothes (except my winter coat
It’s fun! And I may take this back in 5 months time… but I’m excited to get the huge belly!
I went to the doctor yesterday for my second check-up. Got weighed (gained 5 pounds, which is right on target), heard the heartbeat (strong and normal), and booked my detailed ultrasound (April 17th). Yay!
In other news…
Weird Pregnancy Symptom of the Week: (sorry if it grosses you out) gagging and heaving when I brush my teeth (or more specifically my tongue). Yeah, my gag reflex is stronger than ever (even though I didn’t really have any morning sickness). Brushing my teeth has now become an olympic event whereby I attempt to get all the gross out of my mouth in 4.8 seconds or less. Apparently this is common in pregnant women. Who knew?!
